Obedience Training

Sit, down, stay, recall, polite leash walking, and place — taught with food rewards and proofed in real distractions.

Manners that actually hold up.

Overview

Obedience is the toolkit every dog deserves. Good cues make every other part of life — walks, vet visits, guests, off-leash time — easier and safer.

We teach the core set and then we proof it. A sit that only works in the kitchen isn't really a sit. Our dogs leave with cues that hold up in the yard, on the street, and at the park.

Who it's for

Adolescent and adult dogs whose basics never stuck — or never started.

Great fit
  • Adolescent dogs (6–18 months) ignoring cues they used to know
  • Adopted adult dogs whose history is unknown
  • Owners who want a reliable, off-leash-trustworthy companion

What's included

  • Core obedience set: sit, down, stay, recall, leash walking, place
  • Real-world proofing in our neighborhood
  • Handoff session to transfer cues to you
  • Written training notes and follow-up resources

How it works

  1. 1. Assessment

A 60–90 minute first session where we meet your dog, talk through goals, and build a training plan that fits your household.

  2. 2. Foundation work

We start with the reinforcement skills the rest of the plan depends on — name response, marker words, focus, and reward delivery.

  3. 3. Targeted skills

We layer in the cues and behaviors you actually need — recall, leash manners, place, polite greetings, or specific behavior work.

  4. 4. Real-world proofing

We practice in the yard, on the sidewalk, in the neighborhood, and around distractions so cues hold up outside the living room.

  5. 5. Handoff session

A working session with you — not just the dog — so the cues, timing, and rewards transfer cleanly. You leave with written notes.

Why it works

  • A dog who listens at home but ignores you at the park hasn't actually learned the cue.
  • Proofed obedience is the foundation for safe off-leash time.
  • Consistency from us + you = cues that actually stick.

Pricing

Frequently asked

How long until my dog 'gets it'?

Most dogs show solid new cues within 2–3 weeks of consistent practice. Real-world reliability takes longer — usually 6–12 weeks depending on the dog and how much you practice at home.

Do you require a meet-and-greet?

Yes — every new client gets a free, no-pressure consultation. It's the only way for us (and your dog) to know it's the right fit.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes. We carry pet-care liability insurance and are happy to share details at your consultation.

What if my dog needs medication?

Oral meds, eye drops, ear drops, and most injectables are included at no extra charge. Just bring the meds with clear instructions.

Do you take intact dogs?

Intact females are welcome outside heat cycles. Intact males are evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the consultation.
