Extended Stay Boarding

Traveling for a week, a month, or longer? Extended stays get the same in-home care, plus a custom routine built around your dog's medical, dietary, and exercise needs.

For trips that last weeks, not days.

Overview

Extended stays are where home-style care really pays off. Long stays in commercial kennels often cause regression — weight loss, kennel cough, anxiety behaviors, even house-training setbacks. None of that is happening here.

We build a written care plan covering everything from food rotation to exercise targets to vet-visit cadence, and we send you weekly written check-ins on top of daily photos.

Who it's for

Owners on long trips, sabbaticals, military leave, or relocations needing reliable multi-week care.

Great fit
  • Travel longer than 10 nights
  • Snowbirds, sabbaticals, and extended work assignments
  • Owners between homes or in temporary housing

What's included

  • Discounted weekly rates for stays of 7+ nights
  • Routine vet visits coordinated if needed
  • Regular grooming or bath options
  • Weekly written progress updates plus daily photos
  • Optional training reinforcement during the stay

A day in the life

  1. 1
Same daily rhythm as in-home sitting, with a longer-arc plan for exercise and enrichment
  2. 2
Weekly grooming session: nail trim, ear check, brush-out, optional bath
  3. 3
Vet visits scheduled around your travel if needed

How it works

  1. 1. Free consultation

We meet you and your dog in our home for about 30 minutes. You walk the space, see the yard, ask questions, and we watch how your dog settles in.

  2. 2. Reserve your dates

Once we've confirmed it's a fit, we hold your dates with a small deposit and send over a simple intake form covering food, meds, vet info, and routine.

  3. 3. Drop-off

Bring your dog, their food, and anything that smells like home. We'll do a final routine review and you're free to go — no long goodbyes needed.

  4. 4. Daily updates

Photo and text updates every day. Reach out anytime; we're happy to send more if you want them.

  5. 5. Pickup

Pick up a happy, exercised dog — or use our pickup & delivery service and we'll bring them home to you.

Why it works

  • Continuity matters most on long stays — same home, same people, every day.
  • Predictable routine prevents the regression boarded dogs often show after long stays.
  • Custom care plans make sure nothing slips, even at week six.

Safety & standards

  • Bi-weekly weight checks to catch any loss early
  • Routine vet wellness check coordinated for stays over 30 days
  • Written daily log shared with you weekly

What to bring

  • Enough of your dog's regular food for the full stay, plus a day or two extra

  • A bed or blanket that smells like home (optional but loved)
  • 1–2 favorite toys or a chew
  • Vet contact info and proof of current vaccines (rabies, DHPP, Bordetella)
  • Enough medication for the full stay plus a one-week buffer
  • Grooming preferences or a current groomer's contact info

Frequently asked

Is there a maximum length?

We've cared for dogs for 6+ weeks at a time. Length isn't the limit — fit is.

Can you handle prescription refills?

We can pick up refills from your usual vet or pharmacy with written authorization.

Do you require a meet-and-greet?

Yes — every new client gets a free, no-pressure consultation. It's the only way for us (and your dog) to know it's the right fit.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes. We carry pet-care liability insurance and are happy to share details at your consultation.

What if my dog needs medication?

Oral meds, eye drops, ear drops, and most injectables are included at no extra charge. Just bring the meds with clear instructions.

Do you take intact dogs?

Intact females are welcome outside heat cycles. Intact males are evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the consultation.
